Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Lexington, Kentucky!

At the heart of Kentucky's Bluegrass Region, Lexington's surrounding horse farms are long famed for breeding Kentucky Derby winners. Frontiersman Daniel Boone explored here, establishing forts in nearby Harrodsburg and Boonesborough. Lexington itself was founded in 1775 -- 17 years before Kentucky reached statehood. By 1820, the so-called 'Horse Capital of the World' had grown to become one of the most well-heeled towns west of the Alleghenies, so wealthy it picked up the nickname 'Athens of the West.' Besides the rolling blue-green countryside outside town with miles of picket fencing, Greater Lexington 'horse country' attractions include Keeneland Race Course, Red Mile Harness Track, Thoroughbred Park, and the American Saddlebred Museum on grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park. Cultural magnets include ArtsPlace, featuring Kentucky artists, the University of Kentucky Art Museum, and the Lexington History Museum. Ashland, statesman Henry Clay's home, lies on a 20-acre wooded estate not far from downtown, with grounds open for strolling at any time, although the walled garden closes at 5 p.m. Applebee's Park Top is home to Lexington's minor league professional baseball team, and Lexington's Farmers Market, Flag Fork Herb Farm, and Talon Winery & Vineyards also draw crowds. Shoppers head to Fayette Mall (Kentucky's second largest mall), the Shops at Lexington Center, and Turfland Mall. Greater Lexington lodging options include more than 7,400 rooms in accommodations from bed and breakfasts and family run motels to hotels near the Lexington Convention Center.
